7 Simple Ways To Keep Your Mind Sharp

Do you ever get the constant feeling that you’ve forgotten something incredibly important? You can’t shake this bad or weird feeling while you are doing your daily chores or work tasks. You are trying to jog your memory but you end up feeling bothered for the rest of the day.

You forget things every day but if you feel stressed and anxious almost all the time may cause you to lose your memory more than people who are relaxed. Memory loss is very alarming because if you do lose your memory, you might ask for your personal information from Facebook. However, you have to send your personal ID with a photo to be able to unlock your account which you don’t even know where it was placed.

According to Healthline, depression makes it difficult for us to continue our work or manage our business because it affects our concentration and decision-making skills. Besides depression, feeling stressed and anxious almost all the time can also lead to memory loss.

You know that when you age, you will want to avoid memory loss.

1.) Get plenty of sleep.

When you lack sleep, you also lack focus, energy and drive to continue your tasks throughout the day. You can hardly remember phone numbers and pick dry cleaning or worse, picking up your children at school. #momoftheyear

2.) Drink B vitamins, foods or memory supplements

Based on the research from Mayo Clinic, drinking vitamin B-12 can help maintain your healthy cells as well as your red blood cells. Taking vitamins won’t harm you and may help relieve your stress. Besides vitamins, you can also find foods that are rich in Vitamin B12 in meat and fish, with folic acid. You can also include B6 foods such as asparagus, lentils, beans, and leafy green vegetables.

3.) Avoid multi-task

Studies have shown that memory-related tasks can suffer most in the hands of people who do multi-tasking. Try to focus on doing and finishing at least one thing at a time. You can also practice mindfulness meditation which is all about bringing awareness back to what you are doing whether you could be daydreaming, walking, sitting or washing your dishes.

4.) Train your brain with an app

Spend at least 10 minutes a day doing mobile games such as shapes, colors or any out of the box mind activities which improves your attention, memory and quick thinking skills. Besides playing games on your phone, you can also do crosswords or sudokus. You can even learn to play the piano, new language or cooking like me.

5.) Healthy diet

Eating a high omega-3 diet can help your depression as well as age-related memory loss. You must also consume lots of dark green vegetables such as spinach, dried seaweed, and spirulina.

Phosphorus may also help the brain, and is needed for the body to absorb those vital B vitamins, it’s found in oily fish. You can also add in nuts including walnuts, cashews, peanuts, and pecans. Eggs, lentils, soya and dark chocolate can be added in your meals too.

6.) Massage

Massage your head, neck, and shoulders to boost blood flow to your brain. You can also massage your scalp as the stress shortens the muscles in your scalp. Encourage your boyfriend to give you a body massage. You can ask your boyfriend for a body massage as it brings you closer and at the same time, reduces your stress.

You can look for a massage clinic but I think you have to be extra careful to find a massage clinic with no happy ending. However, if you are single and cheap, time to buy this massager.

7.) Write everything down

If all else fails, you know what to do. Write it all down in your to-do lists or on post-it-notes. You can also set reminders on your phone. Don’t feel stressed or feel bad if you can’t remember everything because no one is expecting you to have a great memory.

Never ever stressed out when your memory fails you, or feel it’s the start to slip away because it will only make things worse for you. Remember that it can happen to anyone. Take a deep breath and calm yourself.
